What is a phone QR code?

A phone QR code encodes a telephone number using the tel: scheme. Scanning it prompts the phone to dial, so customers can call you without keying in digits.

How to create one

Enter the country code and number, plus an optional extension. We remove unnecessary characters while preserving meaning, and show a preview so you can confirm the number before generating.

How tel links work

The code doesn't place a call on its own — it opens the dialer with the number ready. The person still taps to call, keeping them in control.

Where to use it

Perfect for service vans, real-estate signs, business cards and posters where a one-tap call improves response rates.

Privacy and security

The number is encoded locally and never uploaded. Because it only pre-fills the dialer, it can't call anyone automatically.

Limitations

Extensions aren't dialed consistently across carriers. Devices without a phone app (some tablets) may not act on a tel link.

Frequently asked questions

Will it call automatically?

No. It opens the dialer with the number pre-filled; the user taps to call.

Can I add an extension?

Yes, but note that extension dialing behaviour varies by carrier and phone.

Should I include the country code?

Yes, especially if callers may be international. Add the leading + and country code.
