QR Code Scanner
Scan a QR code with your camera or an uploaded image.
What is the QR code scanner?
This scanner reads QR codes using your device camera or an uploaded image. It decodes the content in your browser and shows you exactly what the code contains before you do anything with it.
How to scan
Press Start camera to grant access and point at a code, or drop an image file into the upload area. You can also paste a screenshot. When a code is found, scanning pauses and the result appears with its type and, for links, the domain and protocol.
Safe link handling
Scanned links are never opened automatically. You see the full URL and can copy it or open it deliberately in a new tab with rel="noopener noreferrer". Unsafe schemes such as javascript: are flagged and won't be opened.
Camera and privacy
Camera access is requested only when you press the button, and the video stream is fully stopped — indicator light off — when you close the scanner or leave the page. No frames are uploaded; all decoding is local.
Tips for a good scan
Ensure even lighting, hold the code flat and fill the frame. If the camera struggles, switch cameras with the selector or upload a photo instead.
Limitations
Very small, blurry or damaged codes may not decode. Browser camera support varies, and some desktops have no camera — image upload always works as a fallback.
Frequently asked questions
Does scanning open links automatically?
No. You always see the full URL first and choose whether to open it. Unsafe schemes are blocked.
Is my camera feed uploaded?
No. Decoding happens in your browser and no frames are sent anywhere. The camera stops fully when you close the scanner.
Can I scan from a saved image?
Yes. Upload or paste an image and it will be decoded locally.
